The Exide Innovation Challenge is open to bona fide 2nd year students currently pursuing a full time two year PGP/MBA program.

  • Participating teams need to prepare a five year business plan for Exide keeping in view the business disruption in the Battery and Auto Ancillary space.
  • The window for participation will be between 15th September 2017 – 21st December 2017.

    Timelines
    • 15th September: Registrations Open
    • 13th - 18th December: Campus Rounds
    • 21st December: National Finals
  • There will be three rounds of evaluation namely Best Pitch, Campus Round and National Finals.

Round 1:

BEST PITCH - In the First Round. i.e the Best Pitch, participants are expected to upload their entries with an executive summary of the business plan and identify the business innovation that they would like to dwell in detail. Teams can include Unique selling proposition of the proposed innovation, broad execution strategy and financial impact for the organization (if possible). Teams are required to mention all the key assumptions made during their analysis.

Round 2:

CAMPUS ROUND - The best pitch winning entries will qualify for the Campus Round i.e the second round.

    Campus Round Dates
    • 13th December : NITIE, IIM Indore, MDI Gurgaon
    • 14th December : IIM Lucknow
    • 18th December : IIM Calcutta
  • Further details about the Campus Round will be shared with the shortlisted teams.
  • The teams are required to submit their campus presentations before the announced deadlines. The Campus Round winners will move on to the National Finals i.e. Leadership Presentation round.

Round 3:

NATIONAL FINALS – Teams qualifying for the National Finals will get the opportunity to present their cases in front of the MD & CEO and the Executive Committee of Exide Industries Limited.

Venue: Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts, Kolkata

Please note: The maximum file upload size for the Campus Round and National Finals is 75 MB.

Guidelines pertaining to the Campus Round and National Finals Round will be provided to the respective qualifying participants, at a later stage.

For all the rounds entries should be sent to us in the below mentioned format:

  • Microsoft power point (.ppt/.pptx)
  • MP4/MP3

All entries should be accompanied with speaker-notes and supporting material

Evaluation Process

  • Every entry sent will be studied by a panel comprising of jury members and senior business leaders from the Exide Industries Limited. This panel, will finalize whether the entry is to be shortlisted for the next evaluation round.
  • There is no limit to the number of teams that may be shortlisted for the evaluation rounds.
  • Participant(s) will be required to be present in full strength at the National Finals if they are invited to present to the Jury, unless their members are on the official International Exchange Program of the Institute, or have taken prior permission to be exempted from this round, due to emergency situations.
  • Shortlisted member(s) are expected to make a 20-minute presentation, in a random sequence, followed by a maximum of 10 minutes of Questions & Answers in the National finals.

Shortlisting Criteria

The Jury will be evaluating the entries based on the following criteria(s), though this is not an exhaustive list:

Issues:
  • Depth of issues covered.
  • Originality, creativity and relevance of the Issue.
  • Quality of analysis (Numerical and Data based analysis etc.)
  • Implementability Quotient of the solution proposed.
  • Innovation Quotient.
  • Depth of research.
  • Quality of presentation.

Final Evaluation Round

  • The Final evaluation round will be held at the Head Quarters of Exide Industries Limited, in Kolkata in the first week of November.
  • All costs pertaining to the travel to Kolkata, boarding and lodging, as well as return to the campus will be borne by Exide Industries Limited.
